Grant Funded Training Programs

The SBCCD EDCT strives to secure Federal, State and Private Grant Funds to promote the development of the workforce in the Inland Empire and surrounding areas. One or more of the following grant-funded programs may be available:

Workforce Investment Act (WIA)

The federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA), offers a comprehensive range of workforce development activities through statewide and local organizations. Available workforce development activities provided in local communities can benefit job seekers, laid off workers, youth, incumbent workers, new entrants to the workforce, veterans, persons with disabilities, and employers. The purpose of these activities is to promote an increase in the employment, job retention, earnings, and occupational skills improvement by participants. This, in turn, improves the quality of the workforce, reduces welfare dependency, and improves the productivity and competitiveness of the nation.

Job Development Incentive Training Fund (JDIF)

The purpose of the JDIF grant is to:

  • Facilitate information exchange between the industry and the education/training system
  • Provide coordination support for regional recruitment and job placement assistance
  • Coordinate the sharing of resources in the area of marketing, training, and outreach
  • Conduct data analyses on hiring and skill trends
  • Provide short-term / technology-based training seminars toward the focused industry cluster
  • Widen credit-based education menu throughout the region
  • Expand the employment readiness and job retention capacity of participants

California Employment Training Panel (ETP)

ETP is a business and labor supported state agency that assists employers in strengthening their competitive edge by providing funds to partially offset the costs of job skills training that is necessary to maintain high-performance workplaces. California's ETP is a performance-based program, providing funds for trainees who successfully complete approved training programs and are retained in well-paying jobs for a specific period of time.
